When you join 4-H, you’re a part of something big! 4-H is the nation’s largest youth development organization, with more than six million members and over 90,000 clubs.


Youth ages 5-19 can learn important life skills like leadership, teamwork, critical thinking and communication to help prepare them for successful futures – and they do it while engaging in fun, hands-on 4-H activities.

What is 4-H?

4-H is a national program that helps young people develop leadership, citizenship, and life skills. Since 1915, Chippewa County 4-H has offered hands-on learning, leadership opportunities, and community involvement.

As part of the University of Wisconsin–Madison Division of Extension’s Institute of Positive Youth Development, Kewaunee County 4-H connects local youth to the largest youth development organization in the country.

Through clubs, camps, youth leadership opportunities, governance, and school programming, young people discover their passions and build skills such as: problem solving, decision making, leadership, and healthy living.

Our Impact

Kewaunee County 4‑H advances the Wisconsin 4‑H Positive Youth Development priority areas of youth empowerment, experiential learning, and college and career readiness.

Through hands-on learning, youth build confidence, develop leadership skills, and gain practical experience that prepares them for future education and careers. 4‑H empowers young people to take initiative, make informed decisions, and contribute positively to their communities.

Learn by Doing

Based on the four H’s: Head, Heart, Hands, and Health; 4‑H uses a “learn by doing” approach that allows youth to explore interests in science, the arts, and more.

Many youth begin in local clubs, where they: Make a positive impact in their communities, try new experiences, build confidence and develop teamwork and leadership skills.

  2. Find a Club Near You: Most families begin with a community or single project club. Clubs meet regularly and provide hands-on learning, friendships, and youth-led activities guided by trained volunteers. View the Kewaunee County 4-H Club Information Guide.
  3. Join 4-H: Sign up through 4-HOnline to become an official 4-H member and start your 4-H experience.

Explore 4-H Opportunities

Programs are offered in flexible formats including in-person, small group, independent, and virtual options to meet youth where they are.

Ways to Get Involved

  1. School & Afterschool Programs We partner with local schools and organizations to bring 4-H youth development to classrooms and afterschool settings.

  2. County Events & Activities Many events are open to both members and non-members (non-members may have a slightly higher fee).
